Today is a big day for the Huddle team – and I’m not just talking Huddle marching bands at the SharePoint Conference 2011.

With the market for cloud collaboration increasing exponentially, we are delighted to report another record quarter and the fact that we’re on track to triple sales year-on-year. It also gives me great pleasure to officially welcome Simon O’Kane, former Managing Director, UK and Ireland, at Salesforce.com, to Huddle’s management team. Salesforce.com is the poster child of the SaaS generation – so we’re delighted to have Simon join (in his words) “Europe’s leading cloud software business” as we continue to build Huddle into a $billion business.

As our VP Enterprise, Simon will continue to build Huddle’s ever-expanding presence in large companies and government organizations worldwide. With his impressive industry knowledge, Simon will support Huddle on its mission to disrupt the collaboration and content management space and go head-to-head with dated, expensive and disliked systems such as SharePoint. At Huddle, we want to ensure that end users and IT have a viable alternative to SharePoint that they love using, without hidden costs and lengthy deployment processes. The fact that our sales to new enterprise customers have increased by almost five times is clear evidence that people are ready for a change. They are demanding flexibility, scalability and simplicity combined with the enterprise integration, security, uptime and support that only Huddle can give them.

Software as a Service (SaaS) has truly come of age and the security and uptime concerns that are the typical barriers to adoption are starting to be overcome. Tom Austin, VP and Gartner Fellow, Gartner, wrote in a recent report: “By YE14, cloud email and collaboration services, at 10 per cent penetration, will have passed the ‘tipping point’, with broad scale adoption under way.”

For Huddle, this latest announcement is another milestone in what has been a hugely successful and exciting year for the company. Some key happenings include:

  • The launch of the Huddle’s unique and hugely popular Adoption Guarantee: 100 per cent adoption of your users or your money back!
  • Matt Wise joined Huddle to lead our corporate business – Matt previously built sales at one of the UK’s most successful  B2B tech stories – MessageLabs (sold to Symantec for $700m in 2008) – and has quadrupled the size of his team since he joined as we race to keep up with demand
  • Figures jointly identified by Huddle and UK government reveal that replacing Microsoft SharePoint with Huddle could save more than £287 million – just think what Huddle could do for your company…
  • Huddle became the first cloud-based collaboration service to launch a private version of its offering – Huddle IL3. This saw the company move into the highly valuable hybrid cloud market
  • The company secured a high value ten year deal with FCO Services for Huddle IL3
  • The opening of our new European HQ on Silicon Roundabout to accommodate our rapidly expanding team and moved into a new San Francisco office. Although at the rate we are growing we’ll need to move again next year!
  • Huddle was named Best European Enterprise Company at the Telegraph 100 awards

Today, we proved that we aren’t afraid to take on the incumbents and made plenty of noise about our success on Microsoft’s doorstep – specifically the SharePoint conference in Anaheim.
