Christmas greetings! Its not often that we get all glammed up at Huddle; generally we’re more likely to be found in jeans and t-shirts than suits and ties but last week we held our first annual ‘dress up Friday’ – a chance to wear something nice, bray loudly about stocks and shares and generally stick two fingers up at the recession. It’s been an incredible year at Huddle and we wanted to thank you, our users, partners and friends for helping to make it happen.

So what happened in 2008? Well… We’ve outgrown two offices, twice been selected to represent UK web innovation abroad and expanded our free offering for charities.

On top of this, we leapt into Gartner’s Magic Quadrant and spoke at numerous high profile industry events. From a product standpoint we’ve re-worked huge chunks of our application, released a kick-ass developer API, launched discussion forums and partnered with Linkedin to build an amazing OpenSocial application called Huddle Workspaces. This was particularly pleasing as our little British company was one of only six global partners on the launch, up there with the likes of Google, Amazon, WordPress and SixApart. You may have heard of them (apparently they’re kind of a big deal).

Since then we’ve been beavering away on getting Huddle v2.0 launched into beta, listening to and working on your valuable feedback and preparing our latest feature, meetings (more on this soon!)

Behind the scenes we’ve spent a lot of time scaling our architecture, working with our enterprise customers to give them the extra security and controls they require and finding great people to join our team. Great people such as James, who recently won the hack day and Ned who, despite having no previous acting experience, convinced eleven friends and a bunch of celebs to stage a for-one-night-only charity pantomime.

We’ve also been doing the part for the London start-up community with our DrinkTank events – bringing 120 entrepreneurs, investors and bloggers together every single month. We’ve only been running the events since April but already they’re regarded as the London tech-event. We rounded off the year with the the first annual DrinkTank awards which you can read all about here.

2009 promises to bring even more of the same – more great new features, more innovation and more great partnerships. We’ve got some massive news that we’ll be shouting about in the next couple of months so stay tuned.

For now, from everyone here at Huddle HQ in London, we wish you a very happy Christmas and splendid New Year!
