The nomination of Hillary Clinton as a major political party’s candidate for president of the United States has once again elevated the issue of gender equality. It’s an important topic and one that is especially prominent in the tech industry where women make up just over 25 percent of the workforce despite the fact that this number is closer to 50 percent when it comes to the global workforce.

While women remain underrepresented in the science and engineering industries, the numbers are improving. This is in large part due to the open dialogue on the issue as well as increased support from business and their leaders. Our own CTO, Stuart Cochran has spoken about the importance of the right work environment to level the playing field for all employees.

Despite this, in any one person’s career they’re likely to face a number of challenges. These can be internal, such as in the case of imposter syndrome, or external obstacles to success and even career growth. It is at these times that it’s more important than ever to seek support from others who have been there before.

Run in partnership with We Are The City, a hub for professional women who want to progress in their careers, enhance their skills and build their networks, Huddle will be hosting an event covering how to overcome career obstacles on Thursday, August 25 at 6pm at our London offices.

The event will feature a panel of senior tech professionals who’ll share stories about how they overcame obstacles to achieve their goals. The event will help to inspire and offer some guidance to those working to develop and grow their careers.

Tickets are free but limited (and available on a first come, first served basis). If you’d like to attend you can register here.
